Fun Stuff

Today started out kind of slow but definitely has gotten more exciting. At 3 we were in a volunteer meeting. After the meeting we got to speak with Karl (the head volunteer handler). He has a kennel where he breeds and runs a pure Siberian team. He only does it for recreation. He shared pictures and videos of his team running and being fed. His wife feeds all 12 dogs at 1 time. They are all in a big kennel standing around her wanting to be fed. She says the dogs name, drops the bowl and all the other dogs leave that dog alone. The process then continues!
He has a litter due on the 17th. I asked him if he was selling them, what do you think Carl????
He then introduced us to another kennel of pure Siberian's. This kennel was originally from Texas showing their dogs. They came to AK to volunteer and after volunteering moved to AK 2 years later.
Finally, we got to meet a musher! He is a musher from Jamaica. This is his second year running. He started mushing in 2008'. He leases another musher's dogs. He has a book, "Newton Marshall." Very nice guy!
