5 weeks until the Alaska trip! I've got my boots, socks, gloves and all the other gear I think I'll need. I also have mittens for times I'm not moving. It's been single digits in VT during the day and in the negative during the PM. It's supposed to get to -30 tonight. This should be similar weather to Alaska.
Another fun piece of info about the dogs: Huskies have lots of fur between their paw pads. This helps keep them warm in the winter. However, sometimes you need to trim the fur when it gets to long. If you don't, the snow will get get stuck between their paws and this can be very painful. Our dogs will just keep that paw lifted until the snow melts.
